All about Emotionalysis

We all know that it is enough for us to hear a single “hello” on the phone to immediately sense if the person is happy, upset, welcoming, angry, friendly, relaxed, etc. We do it instantly, instinctively and intuitively. We do it every time we communicate and we cannot “shut it off” even if we wanted to.

What we do intuitively, Emotionalysis does in a systematic-scientific and non-biased way.

New studies show that babies are able to understand conveyed emotions even before they learn to understand the actual meaning of the words themselves. In fact, the very first emotions we ever experience are triggered by the voices that we hear: We hear our mothers’ voice and we listen to the world around us many weeks before we are even born. Interestingly, this is true for humans and animals alike: Most pet owners will tell you how their pets can “feel their moods” and react as though they fully understand what is being said.

There is nothing mystical or super-natural in the methodology deployed by Emotionalysis. The utilized process is highly scientific, grounded in many years of research. The emotional profiling technology was researched on over 40,000 people and the voice analysis technology was optimized on more than 6,000 test subjects. The technology itself is based on the latest developments in the area of emotional statistical analysis and on complex measurements of the sound attributes of our voice.

The computational process behind Emotionalysis took almost ten years of research to develop and it is based on established links between emotional attitudes and certain physically measurable parameters in the human voice.

Studies that encompassed thousands of people, from different cultures and speaking different languages have led eXaudios Technologies' scientists to the discovery of (what we call) a Universal Language of Tones. This language allows people to understand the emotional attitudes of speakers even if they did not understand the language spoken. Since research is still being carried out to further study this amazing "meta language", you, the user, can be a part of this exciting project. Please support us by clicking on the feedback buttons each time you complete an analysis. This will help us fine-tune and update the application for your benefit.

About Emotionalysis and AreYouTalking2Me.com

The application offers a unique service not available anywhere else. Emotionalysis can give you insight into your own emotional attitudes towards a person, an event or an inanimate object. For example, if you would like to explore your emotions towards a particular person, all you need to do is to simply activate the microphone and repeat the name of the person in question (see more details in the “Procedure description” and in the “FAQ”). After “listening” to you for a few seconds, the application will analyze your voice and offer you an emotional attitude analysis.

One of the most important benefits of Emotionalysis is that the analysis is absolutely non-biased and totally objective. All you need to do, is be completely focused in your analysis. This is especially important in complex situations where you don’t want to admit your true emotions about a certain person or a situation, even to yourself. For example, you may not want to recognize the fact that you harbor feelings for your ex, or you may be suppressing the fact that you are attracted to a person you are not even supposed to like… or vice versa… Emotionalysis will help you recognize these situations and trace them as they evolve and develop.

More importantly, Emotionalysis may help you better understand and formulate what you know you are feeling. This may help you better express yourself and understand the relationships you are in, both private and professional. This may open new perspectives in your personal life and in your career.

Basic Analysis Procedure

To test your emotional attitude towards a particular subject:

  1. Select a category from the list provided (Talk to Me Business & Casual; Talk to Me Personal & Intimate; Emotionsmeter).
  2. Select whether you would like to speak for fifteen (15) or twenty-six (26) seconds.
  3. Activate your on-screen Emotionalysis Analyzer and speak into your microphone while focusing entirely on the subject. What you say should be either a simple repetition of the name of person/object/situation which you would like to explore or a short sentence about the person / object / situation which you would like to explore. In case you prefer to simulate a monologue with the target person, please choose the subject carefully: Depending on the monologue subject you choose, the results may reflect your emotions about this person in the context of the situation you are talking about (e.g. if you simulate a monologue with your girlfriend/boyfriend about your joint trip to Paris, your resulting analysis will reflect your emotions toward this person in combination with your emotions toward the joint trip).
  4. While you are speaking, concentrate your thoughts on the person/situation/item – fully “experience” them. We recommend that you close your eyes while you speak to help you reach a better emotional focus.
  5. The Emotionalysis system will automatically stop recording when the time limit has been reached.
  6. The results will be displayed as an explanation of a Dominant Emotional Attitude and an explanation of a Secondary Emotional Attitude.

Please note: The Emotionalysis engine is highly sensitive. It is designed to decipher your emotional attitudes while you speak, NOT your words per se. It is what you feel that counts – not what you are saying.

Privacy notice: Your voice output is converted immediately into a binary file for analysis. We do not keep a record of your actual speech, it is not saved and it cannot be re-played or re-produced.

General Comments

  1. Please be aware of the fact that emotional attitudes can change very quickly. For example, your emotional attitude towards a person/situation/object may change within the course of a single day.
  2. The results that you get when you first test your emotions towards a specific person/situation/object, are probably the most accurate. We have notice that repeated tests are influenced by the attempt to reconcile/change the initial results. Nevertheless, your results should stabilize and converge around certain values after you relax and concentrate on the subject of the query without thinking about what the results should look like.
